homemade Kahlua liqueur recipe
Component:
2 cups water
2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup instant coffee beans
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
2 cups vodka
Instruction:
Combine water, sugar, instant coffee granules and cocoa powder in a saucepan. Stir well until the sugar and coffee beans dissolve.
Add the split vanilla bean to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Lower the flame and let the mixture simmer for about 1 hour while stirring occasionally. This will enhance the flavor and thicken the mixture a bit.
After it comes to a boil, take the saucepan off the heat and let the mixture cool completely.
When cool, remove and discard vanilla bean from mixture.
Add vodka and mix well.
Pour the homemade Kahlua into clean glass bottles or jars with airtight lids.
Seal the bottles tightly and keep them in a cool, dark place for at least 2 weeks to allow the flavors to meld and mellow. The longer it stays, the more mellow the flavor will become.
After the aging period, your homemade Kahlua Liqueur is ready to be enjoyed!
You can serve it over ice, use it as an ingredient in cocktails like White Russians or Mudslides, or sprinkle it over desserts like ice cream or brownies.
